Roots

Banaue Rice Terraces - Luzon, Philippines
My roots can be traced back to the Philippines. An archipelago situated in the South East region of Asia. As Lonely Planet has once written, an underrated country among the Asia travel destinations.

There's a lot my country has to offer, besides the vast malls that seems to be sprouting everywhere now adays.

A mix of mountains, hills, beach, diving and day walks can be explored by any travaller/tourist, depends on what they fancy.

Definitely, there are a few places that would be on top of a tourist's list if you were to visit the Philippines.

Chocolate Hills - Bohol, Philippines

I can recommend going through this list just to familiarize one's self with the different activities and to do's.

Top 20 Places to Visit and Do in the Philippines

Just like any other country though, there's an uncertainty when it comes to security. A lot of the tourists gets put off because of such delinquent history, but I do hope that this improves in the next years or so. As has been said before, each place has it's own to offer. You just need to explore it and feel the charm of both the nature it can behold and the warmth of the Filipino hospitality.

Sunken Cemetery, Mindanao

If there's something I'd say I'm really proud of when it comes to Filipino society and culture, it would be our strong faith and  hope that whatever happens, we know everything will be okay in the end and the man upstairs will be guiding us through. Now that I've migrated to a Western country, I can humbly say that such simple acts of faith is the ultimate thing that will see one through. The cheerfulness of Filipinos has been known around the world. our need to survive and be flexible to our surroundings will be one of our strengths.

Roots will always be roots, implanted in the heart, mind and soul, wherever you are and whoever you may be. Each society has its own quirks and imperfection, but I've learned to always look back from humble beginnings. Roots.
